Unfortunately the world wide web is filled with scammers trying to take advantage of people. Such is the case with free poker chip scams where unscrupulous players attempt to add hundreds of thousands or even millions of chips to their account but actually steal them from another player’s account.
The most common way scammers try to pull you into a free poker chips scam is through chat boxes. Either they’ll send you a private message or you’ll be chatting with someone during a table and they’ll drop their username and a request to exchange free poker chips. - They disappear with your chips: A slight variation of the above scenario. The scammer takes your username and chips amount and promises to add the 1 million chips to his or her account and then send you the 500,000. Needless to say that never happens and now your account is left with zero chips.
- They want your personal info: Some scammers aren’t even subtle enough to disguise their chip requests. They simply ask for chips and when you refuse offer to add them to their account if you provide your phone number, email address or other personal information. Don’t fall for it!
