- Rhythm & Spices. If you’re looking to sample foods from around the world without leaving the restaurant, this is the place to go. The buffet features 16 themed cooking stations, so there’s literally something for everyone.

- EMERIL’S New Orleans Fish House. Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse brings his special brand of Creole cuisine to Sin City, with dishes like blackened catfish and crawfish etouffee.

Each year, the South Point 400 brings NASCAR racers to the 1.5 mile speedway just west of the Strip. This event typically takes place in September, drawing thousands of race fans to the area.
The MGM Grand is less than 5 miles from the track, making it a popular spot to sleep between races. Plus, you’ll be able to gamble to your heart’s content without having to hop in the car and drive somewhere else.
Academy of Country Music Awards
The ACMs have called the MGM Grand home since 2003, making this one of the most enduring partnerships between an awards show and a venue. The ceremony typically takes place in mid-April, and it usually airs live on CBS television network.
If you love country music, this is a great time to plan a visit to Las Vegas. Even if you can’t score tickets to the show, you’ll probably run into a few stars around the casino.

What else can you do around here? Plenty, as it turns out. Here are some of our favorite attractions within walking distance of the casino.
- High Roller Observation Wheel. Located at The LINQ, this 550 foot tall Ferris wheel offers spectacular views of the city and beyond. Each pod can hold up to 40 people, and every ride takes about 30 minutes.
- The Tunnel. If go carts are your thing, you’ll definitely want to check out The Tunnel. This indoor track lets you zoom along at speeds up to 50 miles per hour. Best of all, you’ll never get rained on.
- Adventuredome Thrill Rides. This is the world’s largest permanent dome structure, seating up to 360 people at a time. But that’s not why you’ll want to go. You’ll want to experience the 120 mph zipline, the Canyon Blaster roller coaster, and the 360 degree bungee ride.
- Eiffel Tower Experience. No, this isn’t the real Eiffel Tower in Paris. Then again, it’s awfully close – at least in terms of appearance. Ride to the top for a great view of the city and the Bellagio Fountains.
- Shark Reef Aquarium. This impressive aquarium features a wide array of ocean life, including sharks, stingrays, piranhas, and even a saltwater crocodile. Best of all, it’s enclosed and climate controlled, so you can see the creatures without freezing or getting soaked.
- Popovich Comedy Pet Theater. Meet performers with a sense of humor. Okay, most of the animals don’t understand the jokes – they’re there because their owners are performing. Still, watching dogs walk on their hind legs and cats balance balls on their noses is always entertaining.
- Galleria at Sunset Shopping Mall. If you’d rather shop than gamble, this indoor mall features more than 150 stores, including familiar names like Forever XXI, H&M, and PacSun.
- Marvel Avengers Station. This museum features costumes, props, and exhibits from your favorite Marvel movies, like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Avengers.
- Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. This wax museum features lifelike figures of celebrities, including Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Oprah, Elvis Presley, and many others.

- Mystere by Cirque du Soleil. One of the original Cirque shows, Mystere features death defying stunts, gymnastics, acrobatics, and clowns. This is one of the bigger stages, allowing the performers to tell intricate stories with elaborate sets.
- Absinthe. This adult-themed Cirque show takes place under a big top, complete with seats that spin around 360 degrees. As you might guess, it’s not suitable for kids.
- David Copperfield. The world’s foremost magician performs several nights a week in his own theater. Be sure to get your tickets in advance, since this show sells out regularly.
- Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. This exhibit features thousands of artifacts recovered from the wreck of the Titanic, including personal items belonging to the passengers and crew. It offers a poignant reminder of the tragedy that claimed so many lives more than a century ago.

Of course, you’ll find no shortage of things to do in the nation’s capital. Here are some ideas to get you started.
- National Mall and Memorial Parks. No trip to Washington DC would be complete without visiting the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, and other famous landmarks. Admission is free.

Personally, I like to take the Metro to the various monuments and memorials whenever I visit. It’s cheap ($2.20 per ride), safe, and efficient. Plus, you get to meet interesting people from all over the world.
MGM Grand Detroit
Heading east, our next stop is the Motor City itself – Detroit, Michigan.
The MGM Grand Detroit opened in 2013, becoming the city’s first new casino in 30 years. It costs $770 million to build, and it features 3 hotel towers, 40 table games, 2,350 slot machines, a poker room, and much more. Here’s an overview of everything you’ll find here.
