New horseshoe casino sportsbooks to try outside of vegas

  • One of the top new sportsbooks outside of Las Vegas is Circa in Downtown Las Vegas.
  • The Book at Blue Chip Casino features great views, a large video wall, and comfortable seating.
  • Sportsbooks like FanDuel Sportsbook at The Meadowlands boast amazing Super Bowl watching capabilities.

Las Vegas will always be king when it comes to gambling in the United States. It’s home to some of the world’s best casinos and an unmatched nightlife that keeps people coming back for more.

It’s also one of the only places in the country where you can bet on sports. Well, that has changed over the past several years.

You might not know this, but there are plenty of great options if you’re looking for the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks.

A number of states have legalized sports betting both in-person and online. This means that they are building incredible facilities to try and compete with what Vegas has to offer.

Pennsylvania Online Casinos To Play at in 2023

Not everyone wants to make the trip out to the desert, especially for just a betting experience. Some of these facilities are worth the trip, no matter what.

If you’re looking for the top non-Las Vegas sportsbooks in the US, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ll be breaking down the best facilities you should visit in this piece.

Circa

  • Location – Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada

  • Year Opened – December 28, 2020

  • Square Footage – 3,500 of sportsbook, 10,000 of arena for total of 13,500

  • Noteworthy – Largest sportsbook video screen (40 million pixels) in the world

Is there anything worse than waiting in line to bet at a sportsbook? Especially during peak hours or major events, the lines can be absolutely brutal.

XLAS (a subsidiary of the Del E. Webb Development Companies) set out to change that with their newest facility, Circa.

One of the main focuses for this project was eliminating any sort of delay for customers. They want everything to be as efficient as possible so you can get to dropping your hard-earned cash.

So, how did they plan to do that? Easy, they made sure that every bet can be made without the use of a single kiosk.

Their sportsbook, called “Top of the World,” cost around $10 million to build. For reference, most books in Vegas cost between $2-$3 million, according to Michael Nolan, Circa’s director of race and sports operations.

What makes this place so special? There are a ton of great features that set it apart from other Vegas sportsbooks. Here are some of my favorites.

No Kiosks Needed at Best Non-Las Vegas Sportsbooks

Have you ever tried to use a sportsbook kiosk during the big game? It isn’t very fun. That’s why Circa plans to do things differently.

There won’t be a single kiosk in the entire sportsbook, which means you won’t have to wait in those long lines mentioned earlier.

That level of efficiency is what sets Circa apart from other Vegas sportsbooks.

Incredible Viewing Experience

In addition to no kiosks and no bet placement wait times, Circa’s sportsbook offers an incredible viewing experience.

For starters, the entire space is 3,500 square feet, which already puts it ahead of most Vegas books in terms of size. The unique design of the facility allows for all 37 of the high-def TVs to face the action.

Circa also has the largest sportsbook video screen in the world. The 40-million pixel screen takes up the entirety of the sportsbook’s arena. It’s 40 feet tall and 140 feet wide, giving you a viewing experience unlike any other.

On the topic of the arena, it can hold around 100 people. You can watch the game from a variety of comfortable couches while enjoying the action on the giant screen. If you’re looking to sit down and enjoy the games, this is definitely the place to do it.

Even the main sportsbook area doesn’t have bad seats. Every angle gives you a great view of the action happening on the field and the TVs above.

Other Notable Features

As if the lack of kiosks and massive viewing experiences aren’t enough, Circa adds even more features to its sportsbook. Here are some other notable aspects of the facility:

  • Drink Raill– There’s a drink rail in the sportsbook that looks out to the skyline of the city. Enjoy some drinks and food while taking in the sights of Vegas.
  • Old School Ticket– If you prefer to avoid screens altogether, there is an old-school ticket window. You can still place your wagers like they did in the old days.
  • Odds Board– An odds board displays the current market prices for all of the major sports.

There’s a reason why Circa is one of the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks. Michael Nolan and his team spared no expense when building this incredible facility.

If you find yourself in Sin City anytime soon, you definitely need to check it out.

More Top Gambling Destinations in Las Vegas

Perhaps you’ll be visiting Las Vegas sooner rather than later. In that case, you’ll want to have a few other top destinations saved in your phone.

Fortunately, I have you covered. Check out the following for some solid ideas.

The Book at Blue Chip Casino

  • Location – Michigan City, Indiana (Just an hour from Chicago)
  • Year Opened – Operational Since 2020
  • Square Footage – 6,500
  • Noteworthy – Overlooks Lake Michigan and features the biggest cent bet on a roulette table in the state

Many people don’t want to travel all the way to Las Vegas just to get their gamble on. That’s completely understandable. After all, not everybody enjoys sweltering heat and crowds of people.

If that sounds like you, maybe you should consider heading to the Book at Blue Chip Casino.

Blue Chip Casino is located about an hour outside of Chicago in quaint Michigan City, Indiana. Their new sportsbook opened in 2020 and has quickly become one of the best ones in the Midwest.

Here’s why you should add it to your list of the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks.

Great Views and Comfortable Seats

The first thing you need in a quality sportsbook is ample viewing space. The Book at Blue Chip Casino has that in spades. Here’s a look at their massive video wall.

A workweek well spent at WHATBET.

Our new sports betting experience, THE BOOK, opens THIS FRIDAY at 1pm local time in Michigan City, IN (just outside of Chi-town).

In addition to the huge video wall, almost all of the seats in the house provide a great view of the action. There are also a few different sections if you are looking for something specific.

The main sports betting area has over 90 high-definition televisions. There’s also a lounge area that has a fireplace and leather seats. If you’re looking to get some work done, there’s even a sports betting area with desktops for customer use.

No matter where you choose to sit, you’ll have an excellent view of the action.

Unique Roulette Table

When you think of a casino, you typically think of slots, table games, and sportsbooks. While Blue Chip has a wide variety of slot machines and traditional table games, they added a unique touch to their roulette wheel.

Century Casinos, who owns the Wheeling Island Racetrack & Gaming Resort, inspired them. Why not add the biggest cent bet on a roulette table in the state?

We’re talking about a $0.01 minimum bet on their roulette table. You could technically place a bet worth over $6 million on one spin. Don’t expect anyone to do that, but it’s still a cool feature nonetheless.

Convenient Location

I mentioned this briefly before, but the location of The Book at Blue Chip Casino cannot be ignored. If you’re looking for the top non-Las Vegas sportsbooks, you likely don’t want to deal with the hustle and bustle of Sin City.

Luckily for you, this sportsbook is less than an hour away from Chicago. You can easily hop on I-94 and be there in no time.

Another interesting fact is that Indiana and Illinois have drastically different gambling laws. The former allows sports betting in person and online, while the latter only allows in-person betting at airports and riverboats.

Chicagoans are desperately trying to pass a gambling expansion bill that would allow for more sportsbooks and online betting. Until then, they will have to make the short trip across the state border to get their wager on.

It’s early in The Book at Blue Chip’s tenure, but it wouldn’t shock me to see it rank among the top sportsbooks in the country. With an excellent layout, great views, and a convenient location, their future looks bright.

FanDuel Sportsbook at The Meadowlands

  • Location – East Rutherford, New Jersey
  • Year Opened – June 14, 2018
  • Square Footage – 10,000
  • Noteworthy – Largest digital media installation in North America
casino apps that payout real money

The first two non-Vegas sportsbooks on this list just opened in the last couple of years. If you thought that was surprising, wait until you hear about FanDuel at The Meadowlands.

This 10,000 square foot facility opened all the way back in 2018. Even though many new sportsbooks have popped up since then, this one still holds its own.

Why you may ask? Well, it has one of the best features I have ever seen in a sports betting facility.

Great Super Bowl Watching Experience

The Meadowlands hosts ten to fifteen thousand Jets and Giants games each year. Needless to say, a lot of people are familiar with the facility.

Whether you love or hate football, there’s no denying that the Big Game is one of the most watched events in the world. If you’re going to be placing bets and watching the Super Bowl, there’s arguably no better place than FanDuel Sportsbook at The Meadowlands.

Why is that? Let’s take a look at the numbers.

  • 20+ Million People – Within a 50-Mile Radius
  • 10,000 Person Capacity
  • More Than 500 HDTVs
  • 200-Foot Long Video Wall
  • Large Outdoor Patio Area

Do I really need to continue? I think those numbers speak for themselves. Whether there are 10,000 or 20,000 people inside the facility, everyone within a 50-mile radius will be able to see the massive video wall.

Those that are actually inside the sportsbook will be treated to an excellent atmosphere. The design of the facility is outstanding, particularly the outdoor patio area. Sitting outside in the snow, drinking hot cocoa, and watching the big game sounds like a dream come true to me.

Between the indoor and outdoor areas, there isn’t a bad spot to catch the action. If you’re looking for one of the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks to watch the Super Bowl, your search ends here.

Other Notable Features

While the Super Bowl watching experience is unmatched, FanDuel at The Meadowlands has other features that put it in the conversation for best sportsbook in America. Here are some of my personal favorites.

  • Monster Samsung Screen– The 200-foot-long video wall was made possible by Samsung. There aren’t many screens like this in the world.
  • Self-Service Sports Betting Kiosks– There are more than 70 self-service sports betting kiosks in the facility. You can easily avoid the bet placement lines if you prefer to go the DIY route.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Bar– Continuing with the indoor/outdoor theme, the bar connects the two parts of the sportsbook. It provides an excellent vantage point for watching the game.
MGM Casinos to Look Out For

These features combine to make FanDuel at The Meadowlands one of the best non-Vegas sportsbooks in operation today. If you’re looking to visit one of these facilities, this is a must-see.

Woodstock Casino Sports Dome

  • Location – Schoharie, New York
  • Year Opened – Operational Since 2022
  • Square Footage – 3,000
  • Noteworthy – First sports dome in the United States

It feels like we are running out of superlatives to describe these awesome sportsbooks. Well, buckle in because we have another contender for best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks.

Woodstock Casino’s Sports Dome opened in April of this year. According to their website, it’s the first sports dome in the United States. Immediately, you know this is a special facility.

Let’s take a look at some of its features to determine if it lives up to the hype.

First Sports Dome in the USA

Woodstock defines a sports dome as “where indoor and outdoor betting meets.” Essentially, you get the benefits of an indoor sportsbook with an open-air design.

The roof of the structure will open and close based on the weather. Regardless of whether it’s raining or shining, you can enjoy the beautiful greenery of the Catskills.

They spared no expense when designing this facility. The 3,000 square foot space has high-definition televisions, luxurious seating, and high-top tables.

Other Noteworthy Features

There’s no doubt that the open-air design is the biggest selling point of this sportsbook. If you ask me, Woodstock hits it out of the park in this department. Everyone wants to enjoy the nice weather when placing their sports wagers.

Here are some other features that add to the overall experience.

  • Full-Service Bar– You can grab your favorite beverage while enjoying the beautiful scenery and your favorite game.
  • Close to NYC– If you’re looking to visit, Woodstock Casino is less than two hours from New York City.
  • High End Finishes– Real stone, porcelain tile, and cherry wood are just a few of the finishes you will find in the sports dome. If you know anything about our , you’ll know this is important for the full experience.

Overall, I am in love with the Woodstock Casino sports dome. It could be the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks once it gets some time under its belt. If you are ever in the vicinity, you should definitely pay it a visit.

Sportsbook at South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa

  • Location – Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Year Opened – Opened 2006, Remodeled in 2022
  • Square Footage – 12,000
  • Noteworthy – Three betting windows per sport, four 5 x 12 FT HD screens, and stadium style seaching for 200+

The final entry on my list of the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks is in the original gambling city. You might be wondering why a site like this would include a Las Vegas facility, but hear me out.

South Point isn’t like any other casino in Sin City. For starters, it’s not directly on the strip. It also has a lot more space than your average Vegas casino.

The remodeled sportsbook officially opened on April 1, 2022. You could argue that it’s the best facility of its kind in the city. Let’s examine the reasons why that might be the case.

Massive Amount of Seating

The new sportsbook at South Point has a whopping 200+ stadium-style seats. If you prefer to watch the action from above, this is the place to be.

Each seat comes with its own TV monitor. You won’t have to worry about finding a good angle to watch your favorite teams. The stadium-style setup works perfectly for betting on events like baseball and football.

Need more seating? No problem. There are additional seats near the two full-service bars. Catch the game with a group of friends and enjoy some delicious cocktails.

With 12,000 square feet of space, it’s safe to say that you won’t feel too cramped either. Often times, sportsbooks in Vegas are small and stuffy. That won’t be the case here.

State-of-the-Art Facility

Along with the ample seating, the new sportsbook at South Point has a lot of other exciting features. Here are some of my favorites.

  • Three Betting Windows Per Sport– South Point has six betting windows in total. You can quickly and easily place your wagers without dealing with long lines.
  • 4–12 FT HD Screens– Four massive screens display continuous coverage of popular sports. You won’t miss a moment of the action.
  • New Air Conditioning System– Management spared no expense when updating the AC system for the sportsbook. Stay cool during those scorching hot summers days.

If you’re looking for the best sportsbooks in Las Vegas, or anywhere else for that matter, these features are essential. South Point has all of them and more.

They also have a dog-friendly patio and live odds boards. Really, what more could you ask for? If you find yourself in Sin City, you should definitely check it out.

Caesars Sportsbook At Bally’s

  • Location – Atlantic City, New Jersey
  • Year Opened – September 29, 2021
  • Square Footage – 7,000
  • Noteworthy – Ceiling made of more than 300 LED lights

Rounding out my list of the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks is another facility in a famous gambling town. Like South Point, you might be confused as to why I included a sportsbook from Atlantic City.

The quick answer is that not everyone likes the fast-paced environment of Vegas. The second answer is that there are some incredible sportsbooks popping up outside of Sin City.

Case in point, the Caesars Sportsbook at Bally’s.

Light Show Above Your Head

If the previous entries on this list were lacking in one area, it’s probably flashiness. Sure, they have big video screens and comfortable seating, but none of them have ceilings filled with lights.

Until now.

The Caesars Sportsbook at Bally’s has around 300 individual LED lights above the seating area. These lights perform choreographed shows that react to the action on the field.

It’s hard to explain exactly how amazing this looks in person. Luckily, Caesars released this video showing off the light show.

Pretty cool, right?

If you prefer to watch sports while surrounded by flashing lights, this is the place for you.

Other Notable Features

Of course, there are other elements that contribute to this being one of the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks. Here are some of my other favorites.

  • Large Video Wall– To be exact, there are three interconnected video walls that stretch 200 degrees. You won’t miss the action on any angles.
  • Full Bar Service– Place your bets and enjoy handcrafted cocktails at the same time. What could be better?
  • Viewing the Games You Want– There are more than 40 sports betting self-service Kiosks. Additionally, you can watch whatever sport you want on one of the 44 TVs scattered throughout the space.

Caesars Sportsbook at Bally’s is another stellar option if you’re looking for something outside of Vegas. The lighting show alone is worth the trip.

Choosing the Right Sportsbook

Well, that concludes my list of the best non-Las Vegas sportsbooks. Each of these facilities brings something unique to the table. Whether you want a massive video screen or a ceiling filled with lights, there’s a sportsbook for everyone.
